Day 6 - Painting and Genesis
Today was our 2nd day of painting! Yesterday, we finished our base color for the wall, which meant today, we got to use all the fun colors to make funky shapes and liven up that part of the school.
After a few hours of painting under the hot sun, we went to this garden-like area to eat the lunch that Jen, Rachel, and Keenen made. While I was eating my lunch though, I found not one... but TWO itty bitty worms in my orange. At first, I was grossed out about it, but later on, after reflecting, I realized that the worms were only in my fruit because it wasn't filled with chemicals, and I was reminded of how fresh everything here is.
The last part of the day was the Hope Center (my favorite part)! One of my jobs today was to welcome and check in the kids as they walked in, which brought endless opportunities for hugs and learning new names.
Eventually, all the kids were ready to start with the activities, so we headed up to our rooms and started making prayer bracelets. I had the privilege of meeting a little girl named Genesis. At first, she was quiet and kept to herself. But the more I asked her questions about her life, the more engaged and comfortable she got to the point where she would even ask me to give her piggyback rides between every rotation!
Overall, today was a long but fruitful day. It was filled with laughter and memories that will last a lifetime.
Tomorrow is our final day of ministry at the Hope Center. Please pray for:
