Prepare Yourself for Leadership
Joshua is commissioned with the great work of the last half of his life – to lead the people across the Jordan and into their inheritance. God’s preparation for leadership involves strength and courage. Reaching back in context 30 days to Deuteronomy 28-31 we see the import of strength and courage in fulfilling God’s wishes. Campbell sees three specifically mentioned causes for courage: God’s promise of the land, God’s direction through His Word, and God’s presence. As we live in this age, we note that each of these has a parallel in our lives. God’s promises us an eternal possession, direction through His Word, and His unfailing presence. Therefore, we must gird our loins for our spiritual battles as well, following our Yeshua as his servants.
